2023 Volvo SUV lineup improvements and overview

Volvo is making significant changes and improvements to its lineup in 2023. New features included updated and more efficient powertrains, improved efficiency, new one-pedal driving on Recharge models, and updated trims that now include Core, Plus, and Ultimate models. Here’s an overview of the changes made to each Volvo SUV in 2023.

2023 Volvo XC40

New B4 and B5 mild-hybrid drivetrains will be added to the XC40 in 2023. These engines produce 194 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque for the B4 and 247 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque for the B5. As a result of a new mild-hybrid system, the XC40 will be more efficient and offer more performance in 2023. Google Maps navigation, voice control, and over-the-air updates are now standard on the Google-based infotainment system. Up front, two USB-C ports replace the USB-A ports.

2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge

Along with all of the changes to the XC40, the all-electric XC40 Recharge is getting a new front bumper, a new grill, new LED headlights, and new exterior colors and wheels.

2023 Volvo C40 Recharge

In this year's C40 Recharge, the black roof is no longer available, but there are new interior material options. With a Google-based infotainment system, the latest Volvo electric powertrain, and the most advanced technology, the C40 didn't need many changes.

2023 Volvo XC60

With the introduction of the B5 and B6 engines last year, the Volvo XC60 became the first Volvo SUV with an all-electrified powertrain line. The 2023 XC60 carries over largely unchanged except for new paint colors and interior materials.

2023 Volvo XC60 Recharge

A more powerful electric powertrain powers the 2023 Volvo XC60 Recharge. With the addition of a larger battery, the XC60 Recharge can now travel nearly 60 kilometers on all-electric power. As we have already discussed, this is a very significant improvement that allows the XC60 Recharge to provide its owners with much better fuel economy, while allowing them to do most of their daily commutes on electric power alone.

2023 Volvo XC90

A new 247-hp B5 and 295-hp B6 powertrain will be available on the 2023 Volvo XC90. For the B5, torque is rated at 258 pound-feet, while for the B6, torque is rated at 310 pound-feet. In addition to being more powerful, these engines are also more efficient. A new Google-based infotainment system and two USB-C ports are also included, as well as a new air purifying system, and a shift-by-wire transmission.

2023 Volvo XC90 Recharge

A larger battery in the 2023 Volvo XC90 Recharge provides nearly double the range of the previous plug-in hybrid XC90 T8. Essentially, you should be able to drive all of your daily commute without a drop of fuel, just like the XC60 Recharge.
