Volvo Car Canada Amplifies 2024 Lineup with XC60 Black Edition

Volvo Car Canada has revealed that it is expanding its portfolio with a new variant of the XC60 SUV. Designated as the XC60 Black Edition, this new entrant will be part of the 2024 model year lineup. The Black Edition will be available for orders in the near future, with deliveries slated to begin in early 2024. This model will enrich the top-tier Ultimate equipment level, adding a unique style proposition to the award-winning XC60.

Aesthetic Upgrades

The Black Edition is characterized by its Onyx Black exterior and multiple black design elements. These include a high-gloss black iron mark logo, a Volvo spread word mark, and specialized 21-inch 5-Double Spoke High Gloss Black Alloy wheels. These details augment the XC60’s appearance, lending it both sportiness and sophistication.

Interior Features

Inside, the Black Edition’s cabin boasts a charcoal interior with a black headliner. Volvo offers two high-end seat upholstery options: Charcoal Ventilated Nappa Leather and a blend of Nappa Leather, Leatherette, and Textile Sport Seats. Complementary metal mesh aluminum decor, a crystal gear shift knob by Orrefors, and a 12.3-inch Digital Driver Display with Google built-in round out the upscale interior.

Powertrain Options

Committed to sustainability, Volvo provides two hybrid powertrain choices for the Black Edition. The XC60 Recharge Black Edition T8 incorporates Volvo’s plug-in hybrid system, coupling a 312 hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 143 hp electric motor. An 18.8 kWh high-voltage battery enables up to 58 kms of fully electric range in Pure mode. Alternatively, the XC60 B5 AWD Black Edition features a mild hybrid system that combines a traditional internal combustion engine with an electric integrated starter generator to reduce emissions and enhance fuel economy.

Pricing

The starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the XC60 B5 AWD Ultimate Black Edition is $68,950, while the XC60 T8 Recharge Ultimate Black Edition will start at $83,950, exclusive of destination charges.

Broader Portfolio and Future Prospects

The XC60 Black Edition joins a 2024 lineup featuring new Volvo-developed powertrains for the all-electric C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge. These powertrains offer extended range and quicker charging times while maintaining the brand’s reputation for safety and secure driving dynamics. Volvo’s entire vehicle lineup from the 2023 model year onward consists of electrified options, including mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or fully electric variants.

With the XC60 Black Edition, Volvo Car Canada continues to build on the legacy of its popular SUV, which has been a key component of its product range for 15 years and was named the 2018 World Car of the Year. Alongside the XC60, the brand continues to offer the S60, S90, V60, V90, and XC90 to Canadian consumers, while also preparing for the launch of two brand new, fully electric SUVs, the EX90 and EX30, as part of its long-term sustainability goals.
